Nanotechnology has been described as the next industrial revolution. The ability to understand and manipulate materials at the molecular and atomic levels offers opportunities throughout the food chain.
CCFRA have received support from the Department of the Environment, Food and Rural Affairs (Defra) and the Engineering and Physical Sciences Research Council (EPSRC) to establish a network on the topic of micro- and nano-technology. The Network will transfer knowledge, identify research that meets specific industry needs and inform on potential impacts and barriers.
As part of the network a series of workshops will be held at CCFRA.These workshops will define the areas where nanotechnology has been used in the food sector and highlight current developments.
