This seminar will show how carbon footprints of food products may be assessed. Corporate experts will explain the positive actions being taken to measure and reduce carbon emissions in their businesses.
In the first part of this event, national and international experts will share
their views on the greenhouse gas assessment of food products and carbon labelling.
The second part will focus on hands-on approaches to carbon footprint
reduction. Speakers from the food industry will share their experience in getting staff involved in achieving reductions in resource use, resulting in a lower carbon footprint. Carbon
offsetting will also be discussed.
The seminar will be of benefit to technical directors, process and environmental managers and those with the objective of improving the resource efficiency of their production processes and understanding and reducing the carbon footprint of their operations.

Important microbial quality, standards and regulatory considerations

the developing European controls

HACCP workshop (Intermediate level)

The common sense approach to assuring food safety, embodied in the principles of HACCP, is explained with the use of a case study. Experienced tutors provide tips on the practical approach to developing HACCP-based systems. Delegates have the opportunity to achieve a nationally recognised Intermediate Level (3) qualification in HACCP. A previous knowledge of at least basic food safety is desirable.

HACCP - advanced
12-16 January 2009
This highly participative course provides HACCP team leaders, management personnel and systems auditors with HACCP training, beyond that given in the introductory level workshop, on the application of the principles of HACCP. The course covers practical implementation, verification and maintenance of HACCP systems. A topic for a post-course assignment, to be submitted within 12 weeks from the examination date, will be discussed with the tutors during the course.
